The automotive mobility and electrification industry brings new opportunities to Michigan – and the EV
Jobs Academy is prepared to support the careers of tomorrow, today. The Michigan Electric Vehicle Jobs Academy (EV Jobs Academy) collaborative is developing education and training solutions to meet the advanced automotive mobility and electrification industry’s talent needs.
With more than 100 partners including employers, industry stakeholders, and education institutions, the collaboration is driving the state’s advanced mobility talent development for the future. Through the EV Jobs Academy, participants can receive assistance with tuition and supportive services, including “earn while you learn” opportunities through Registered Apprenticeship.
Global Epicenter of Mobility
The Global Epicenter of Mobility (GEM), led by the Detroit Regional Partnership, will help the Detroit Region redefine every aspect of mobility through an inclusive and equitable lens. From cutting-edge logistics technology to high-quality job creation and new sites for business, we are building an inclusive and prosperous 21st Century.
GEM’s vision is to accelerate economic growth by building on the region’s unrivaled mobility assets. This initiative will create a smart, secure, sustainable, and inclusive advanced-mobility industry, starting with the transition to next-generation electric, autonomous, and fully connected vehicles.
Employer Champions
Over $7,000,000 in training reimbursement funds available to train workers for actively engaged Employer Champions
Employer Champions build the EV workforce through:
- Co-facilitation or participation in EV Jobs Academy meetings
- Providing the employer voice on skills need development
- Recruiting employers and suppliers to participate in collaborative meetings
- Participating in value stream mapping activities to maximize ROI
- Engaging in relationship building to sustain employer-led collaborative
- Sharing information necessary with the host organization (WIN)
Employer-led collaboratives are a proven success model for:
- Networking and gaining knowledge from expert presentations and stakeholder meetings involving real-time discussions
- Leveraging colleagues in discussions on common pain points such as talent preparation, retention, and expanding the talent base or support services
- Engaging Technical Experts on EV subject matter through the involvement of employer champions
- Developing curriculum/training for incumbent and new workforce training including credential and degree programs, and short-term stackable credential programs available through proven training providers
